This GEO event aims discuss the latest developments in citizen-based observation techniques and volunteered geographic information applications and their potential integration into GEOSS.
The event will feature relevant results from the Architecture Implementation Pilot-8, the GEO Appathon, and the winning applications of the MyGEOSS first call for innovative apps addressing citizens' needs.
The side event will be very practical, with on-line demos of the mobile and web-based applications developed by the different teams. The workshop will close with a panel addressing the challenges, opportunities and barriers for the successful integration of citizen observations into GEOSS, including technical interoperability, data management, open access, and long-term sustainability.
