We welcome two new experts from Brazil and Japan
Ms Masami Onoda from Japan and Mr Fernando Ramos from Brazil have joined the Secretariat as seconded experts.
Fernando Ramos started his two-year assignment with the GEO Secretariat in January 2009. Seconded by Brazil for two years, Fernando has served as a senior researcher and head of the International Affairs office at Brazil’s National Institute for Space Research (INPE). A mechanical-aeronautical engineer, he holds an MSc in space sciences and a PhD in fluid mechanics. He currently supports the User Interface Committee and the Energy SBA.
Masami Onoda joined the Secretariat in February. Masami has been engaged in Earth observations and industrial collaboration at the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) and has been seconded by Japan for two years. She has a BA in international relations and a Masters and PhD in global environmental studies. Her current assignments are to support the User Interface Committee, the Data Sharing Task Force and the Committee on Earth Observation Satellites.
